Place: Eislaufbahn Eiszeit – Villach Rathausplatz
CCB Tanzbüro Villach/Beljak in cooperation with Valentin Alfery // Hungry Sharks
Ice Ice Baby is a duet in which two dancers attempt to translate a carefully planned choreography onto the ice—and in doing so, embark on a radical experiment in adaptation.
What begins as a seemingly elegant dance descends into a physical confrontation with the slipperiness of the ice due to slips, uncertainty, and loss of control, with the original choreography remaining only as a vague impression. Before the eyes of the audience, this results in a movement research on ice that is strongly influenced by floorwork and develops an accessible yet virtuoso dance language that fills the entire space.
By treating the ice first as a disruptive factor and saboteur and ultimately as a playful ally, the performance aims to show how a change of perspective can lead further than sticking to a perfectly planned idea.
