WERNER BERG – CHRISTINE LAVANT

Exhibition from May 1st to October 31st 2024

The fateful love affair between the two artists in the years 1950-1955 was reflected in hundreds of letters. The portraits of Christine Lavant are among Werner Berg's major works and are shown alongside numerous of his oil paintings and woodcuts, as well as many documents and photos relating to the poet's life. The exhibition shows how the time and environment of this basically impossible love found expression in the respective works. The unique exhibition, with important loans from public and private collections, refocuses the view on the great work of the two and provides an insight into the dreams and hopes, upswings and downswings of the extraordinary connection between two special people, but also makes their deeply moving, precarious living and working conditions visible.

The art facade campaign, this time with Werner Berg/Christine Lavant motifs, will also be carried out in 2024.

The exhibition "Hortensia - der Atem der Bronze" will be shown in the museum's sculpture garden.
