Guido Markowitz becomes the new Chairman and artistic director of the CCB

Together with the existing management team, consisting of Jutta Mitteregger (Commercial Director), Mirjam Sadjak (Artistic Director) and Mathias Kunauer (Technical Director), Markowitz will take over the artistic direction of the CCB. Zdravko Haderlap and Anna Hein will continue to support the CCB in an advisory capacity.

Markowitz will continue the CCB in the tradition of Johann Kresnik and develop it into a place of activity for the up-and-coming generation of choreographers from the Alps-Adriatic region. In April 2024, Markowitz will take up his work as a member of the CCB board and, in his role as artistic director, will lead the CCB and break new ground.

Markowitz, who was born in Carinthia in 1969 has been dance director and head choreographer at Theater Pforzheim since 2015. Markowitz's body of work includes more than 60 new creations in contemporary ballet and dance theater as well as directing and choreographing for productions in the fields of drama, opera, operetta and musicals. In 2019, he was awarded the Isadora Prize for his outstanding achievements and commitment to contemporary dance.

Thanks to his long-standing membership of the CCB and his successful involvement as a mentor in the newly developed "LABOR" 2023 format, Markowitz is ideally prepared for his new role.

Markowitz is taking on additional responsibility for the CCB: "As a board member of the Dachverband Tanz, I have already made a lasting commitment to connecting the independent scene and publicly funded theaters and I am very much looking forward to being able to further develop this for dance in my dual role as a board member of the Center for Choreography Bleiburg/Pliberk and Director of Tanz Theater Pforzheim."
